Amaretto Sour (Jeffrey Morgenthaler)

Amaretto, whiskey and lemon in a sweet-tart mix

Morgenthaler version

For one serving

Ingredients

  • Amaretto
    45 ml / 1.52 US fl oz
  • Bourbon

    The original uses cask-strength bourbon

    22.5 ml / 0.76 US fl oz
  • Lemon Juice
    30 ml / 1.01 US fl oz
  • Simple Syrup
    1 barspoon
  • Egg Whiteoptional
    15 ml / 0.51 US fl oz

US fl oz amounts are rounded; use ml for exact measures.

Make it

  1. Shake the ingredients without ice, or blend and froth with an immersion blender
  2. Add crushed ice and shake well
  3. Strain into an old-fashioned glass filled with fresh ice
