Gin leads, vodka follows, and Lillet Blanc adds a hint of citrus and honey.

Ingredients

  • Gin
    45 ml / 1.52 US fl oz
  • Vodka
    15 ml / 0.51 US fl oz
  • Lillet Blanc
    7.5 ml / 0.25 US fl oz

US fl oz amounts are rounded; use ml for exact measures.

Make it

  1. Chill the Martini glass ahead of time.
  2. Pour all ingredients into a shaker, fill with ice and shake for about 10 seconds.
  3. Strain out the ice and pour the drink into the glass.
  4. Express a thin lemon peel to release its oils and drop it into the glass.

Behind the drink

From Ian Fleming's 1953 novel Casino Royale: Bond gives the recipe when ordering and names it after the heroine Vesper.
