Umeshu Soda

Soda water lengthens umeshu's sweet-tart flavor, with green-plum aroma rising to the rim.

For one serving

Ingredients

  • Umeshu
    60 ml / 2.03 US fl oz
  • Soda Water
    90 ml / 3.04 US fl ozto top up

US fl oz amounts are rounded; use ml for exact measures.

Make it

  1. Fill the glass with ice.
  2. Pour in the umeshu.
  3. Slowly pour chilled soda water down the inside of the glass and gently lift the mix once.

Behind the drink

Japanese umeshu is made by steeping green plums, rock sugar and spirits. Many households make a jar each early summer when green plums come into season.
