Rob Roy

A Scotch whisky Manhattan, with mellow malt aroma and a hint of dried fruit in the finish.

Ingredients

  • Scotch Whisky

    Blended Scotch is fine

    60 ml / 2.03 US fl oz
  • Sweet Vermouth
    30 ml / 1.01 US fl oz
  • Angostura Bitters
    2 dashes

US fl oz amounts are rounded; use ml for exact measures.

Make it

  1. Chill the coupe in the refrigerator or fill it with ice water.
  2. Fill a mixing glass with ice and add whiskey, sweet vermouth and bitters.
  3. Stir with a bar spoon for about 30 seconds.
  4. Strain into a chilled coupe and add a cherry.

Behind the drink

Generally thought to be named after the operetta that premiered in New York in 1894, whose hero is Scottish folk figure Rob Roy.
