Equal parts red wine and cola: cold, gently sweet and fizzy, a Basque festival favorite.

Ingredients

  • Red Wine

    An ordinary dry red wine is fine

    90 ml / 3.04 US fl oz
  • Cola
    90 ml / 3.04 US fl ozto top up

US fl oz amounts are rounded; use ml for exact measures.

Make it

  1. Fill a highball glass with ice.
  2. Pour in the red wine.
  3. Add an equal amount of cola, stir gently once and add a lemon wedge.

Behind the drink

A classic from Spain's Basque region. It became popular at a 1972 festival in Algorta, Biscay; its name comes from the nicknames of two people who made it.
