    Blanco tequila works best

    45 ml / 1.52 US fl oz
  • Lime Juice
    15 ml / 0.51 US fl oz
  • Saltoptional
    1 pinch
  • Soda Water
    120 ml / 4.06 US fl ozto top up

US fl oz amounts are rounded; use ml for exact measures.

Make it

  1. Fill a highball glass with ice.
  2. Pour in tequila and lime juice and add a small pinch of salt.
  3. Top with soda water, stir gently once, then squeeze a lime wedge and drop it into the glass.

Behind the drink

Popular in Texas, traditionally topped with the Mexican mineral water Topo Chico, whose mineral character has a lightly salty edge.
